First Race!

So I just got back from my very first "race!"  This morning I ran my very first 5k around lake Pancharevo.

I've been "jogging' in our local park for about 6 weeks but didn't feel I was ready for a real "race" yet.  Thanks to some encouragement from a friend we signed up (she ran 1/2 marathon) and some other friends ran the 1/2 marathon as well or the 10k.  The only people I knew running the 5k was a family with a 9 year old and 8 year old.  The 9 year old little boy ran "with" me (read:  ran ahead of me and ultimately beat me ;))  I was just happy that I made it to the end with no walking and, what I think, is a respectable time (32 minutes.)

The weather is beautiful today so it was a perfect day to run.  In true Bulgarian fashion, the race was a bit disorganized, started 1/2 hour late, there wasn't a ton of direction (i.e. all of a sudden they started the countdown and the race had started...) So, in my opinion, this was the PERFECT first "race" for me.  Now, I'm ready for more!!
